The Benetton colour scheme was quite a challenge. The Red, Yellow, Blue and Green coloured areas of the bodywork introduced me to masking. This model was made several years ago but I seem to remember it took more than one attempt, to get the paint onto the bodywork and with a reasonable quality finish. |

I have found that If the first coat of paint is not acceptable, due to runs or contamination by foreign objects, it is normally possible to quickly make the decision to wipe off the still wet paint, and clean up the plastic in readiness for another try. Once the paint is allowed to dry, removing unwanted paint is far more difficult. |
|
The Benetton rear bodywork requires three different colours and if the last one is not applied correctly and has a poor finish, the only option is to start again. |

Perhaps a bit of beginner’s luck was on my side here, but I was quite pleased with the end result and the model certainly adds a touch of colour to the display. |

The car modelled here was driven by Thierry Boutsen. I wish now that I had choosen the other driver that year which was Alessandro Nannini because Boutsen also drove the Williams FW13B which I have just finished building and have added to this site in April 2002. |
